F20B6 oil consumption

I have a 2000 ATV. It runs beautifully of course, but seems to have quite a thirst for oil, there are no leaks noticeable. Does this engine normally go thru a lot of oil?

yes, it uses oil on the overrun at higher revs as a prelonging life and cylinder walls type thing.

Dont worry, but be sure to top it up, if it gets too low you wont be able to enter vtec, and youll be stuck at 4500rpm limiter.

What oil grade are you using, on the 7th gens if you run 10w-40 she eats a good 1 litre in 9-8k miles

change to full syn 5w-40 or 0w-30 that is completely gone, and the engine does like it too.

Hi, I'm running it on 5W40 fully synthetic and it does go through a litre every 4-5000 miles . Not too worried as long as it doesnt wreck the lamba sensor!

Same with my car 1liter a month no leaks an no smoke compesion tested and all is ok. Even on the accordr forum loads of people complain about high oil useage. Just keep checking it

uum interesting are you caning your engine really hard ? even so it should be consuming oil it not a full on aggressive VTEC like the B & H series.. what are your cylinder compression reading or ideally a leak down test?

Dont cane it at all, its never even seen 6k revs while Ive had it, no smkoe from exhaust or anything
