Guys I need some help,I've got an original Honda sat nav screen unit and trim also the DVD player which I want to fit to my 2002 Accord SE Exec 2.0 5 dr.
First how do I remove the climate control and radio units as i need to move them in to the lower space where the 2 storage spaces are.
2nd How do I remove the lower trim and the 2 storage boxes.?
Any ideas on what other bits I will need to make the Sat nav work other than the sat nav aerial?
Where does the DVD unit fit?
Any help graetfully accepted.
John

I'm not sure this is even possible in your car.

The DVD goes in the second slot up from the bottom of the console (sunglasses/storage caddy at the bottom).

You'll need the GPS antenna, and I think the receiver unit is separate to the Sat Nav - could well be wrong though.

The AC is part of the SatNav system as well, so not sure how that would convert.

If you are doing this for the navigation function you will be sorely disappointed. A blind dyslexic person with a full colour AtoZ would do better at navigating than our Honda units.

Perhaps one of the others, more experienced in chopping their interiors around will know more than me, but frankly it ain't worth the hassle. See Jav's mods with a Pioneer unit with everything built in. It is far better than the OEM unit.

So I'm thinking if its not good how about fitting a Garmin unit into the Honda box?

Hi John

Well before you start removing things, the wiring loom is adapted to the Sat Nav unit + antenna and the DVD player which is usually mounted in the boot on 6th Gen'? So before you re-sell it, the unit can be wired in as I’ve done it before but never again though :( So unless you’re good with auto-electrics I would quite while you’re ahead?

Future reference: upgrade the car with a double din usb-dvd-sat nav-bluetooth-camera input combo touché screen unit, moving the climate control lower down and buy compartment box which will fill the hole where the old radio was?

Compartment link

The only downside is you will sacrifice the Bose sub, on the brightside it can be re-wired to work again but that’s for another post I think :)

Thanks Stu ,I'm ok with electrics so I will give it a try ,did you mean the wiring needs to be fitted or its all ready there ?
If not I'll get a unit similar to the one in your link ,thanks

One more question, will the wiring for the aircon unit reach so I can move the unit to the bottom with out extending the wiring.

Hi,

I've quickly read through your issue but forgive me if I mention some points referenced earlier.

Over the last year I've bought 2 Honda Sat Nav Units with DVD Drives with view to fitting them.
I would explain that I've messed with car electrics for years (mainly fitting Head units)

The Sat Nav wiring is NOT in your car unless it came with the Sat Nav unit as an extra with the BOSE upgrade
There is a 20 wire loom from the Sat Nav Drive to the Sat Nav Head Unit which splits to go to the Bose Player.

I obtained the Wiring Diagram with the view to copying same, please bear in mind you will need the actual connections on the back of the Sat Nav drive, the Sat Nav Head Unit and the Bose Unit!

The existing head units can be moved no problem....the rest is a nightmare,,,

If I can ***ist please contact me, meantime if you want to buy my units just shout!

Hi,

Just a further thought, I also bought a Honda Single Din Sat Nav unit which is a cassette player behind the readout, with seperate DVD dive and cd rear controller which I think is from a Civic 02,. This thing has ALL the required wires, a much much more easy fit and yours for £40 plus pp.
THe only reason I have not gone with it is thatI just obtained a Blaupunkt Travelpiliot E1

Cheers but II also have 2 sat nav units plus a DVD drive etc.I also removed the Nokia hands free kit today.
Got the dash trims out but then found as mine is a non Sat nav car I will have to move the Climate control and install din size filler/shelf as the new Alpine head unit will be a nav/radio /Bluetooth dvd player etc.I will not be refiting the Honda single Bose CD unit.

Things I 've found out today .
The brackets from the radio /climate control unit fit the Honda nav unit and this then fit directly into the space at the top .
The radio /climate control do not fit straight into the bottom hole where the storage unit was,so the brackets must be another type,I hope Honda do them

Have any of you moved the Climate control to the lower space ,if so how did you fit it with/without the Honda brackets ,and did you fit the head unit or just the CC.
Thanks John.

Hi,

Don't mean to hijack your topic but have you established where the VSS is, I need to piggy back it for the Blaupunkt Sat Nav and
I hope I don't have to take dash apart.

Thanks,

B

Type 5 have you tryed puting the final trim back in? the hole where one of the clips goes through is blocked by the bracket.
Whats the v v s?

Stu,

Have this on another Topic..had the Speedo out could not indentify the Blue and white wire , I know, I know it has to be there but I spent ages attempting to indentify it without success..believe me....

All I need is the VSS connection to get the thing running...any easy answer please.

Unfortunately you will have to get the Speedo meter out and locate blue & white wire and scotch lock it?
