The front bumper splitter on my CU1 ES-GT doesn't seem to be properly attached.
See attached photos and video (apologies for low res - there is a limit on this forum).

Droop / sag

In the video, you can see that the splitter seems to bow on the sides if you push it up in the middle.
This tells me that either:
  • it was designed this way (sad)
  • there is damage (warped material) somewhere
Although this looks unusual, I am more concerned with the rubbing.
In the attached images, you can see that the rubbing has gone down to the base layer (black).

The factory fitment clips are present and functional.

I'm wondering:
  • if this is a factory fault or something specific to my car
  • how to fix this cleanly
My current solution is to paint over the base layer then attach some foam pads to prevent further rubbing.

I have searched this forum for the same problem but was surprised that I couldn't find anything.

I've:
  • done the repair: painting over the rubbed down paint
  • added preventative measures: stuck foam where the splitter was rubbing against the paint
It was also a pleasure to see that:
  • Honda have done the same with foam protection stuck to the splitter but with denser foam
  • the splitter is, in-fact, properly attached... It is so proper that I can't get it off due to a nut stuck on a spinning bolt :')

See photos below for more detail of the work.

Only problem now is that the splitter is still drooped / sagged. It's not a huge problem because it isn't causing damage and doesn't look that bad from a few steps back. It's unlikely that I'll investigate further but suggestions for fixes are still much appreciated!

Here's the instructions for removal/installation from ESM (attached)

It states interestingly "If the spoiler (C) will be reinstalled, check the double-sided adhesive tape (D) that attach the spoiler spacer A and the spoiler spacer B to the spoiler for damage. If the double sided adhesive tape is damaged, remove the spoiler spacers from the spoiler. Scrape off the double-sided adhesive tape from the both sides of the spoiler spacers, and clean their surfaces with isopropyl alcohol.

Maybe the tape has failed or its been removed and reinstalled with the old tape?

Oh yeah, that is interesting. Good find!

Especially because all of the spacers are not sticky anymore.
Reading the doc, this means that the original double sided adhesive/tape must've gone.

To fix it, I'll follow steps 4 to 10.
This should secure everything in place and solve the problem as the ESM intended.

Thanks!
