Front fog lights need replacing

So the front fogs on my 2004 2l Auto Petrol saloon have decided to start carrying water. Looks like I'll need to replace them before the test. Looking on Ebay they have these for £61 delivered along with a lot more expensive options!

The only thing is that the original fogs on my car where useless whenever I turned them on, they didn't light up much and for fog made no difference, so I'd like to upgrade if possible to some better lights. These lights claim to fit the car but I've oval fogs and these are round! Found several options on CarID.com but these are US spec so may not fit my Irish model. Any other options to upgrade the front fogs for a resonable price?

Why upgrade? Of course they aren't bright if there's water in it, or possibly cracks in the lens.

Oval fog lights for petrol models, round fog lights for diesel models. Careful of 'upgrades', some bulbs are simply for posing and not for performance in foggy conditions... you are best to stick with filament bulbs to penetrate fog.

I have the HID H3 kit which works in the fog.

Jav is TypeAccord member J4JAV, who runs Horizon LEDs... you can find their contact details in our 'traders' section.

I doubt he sells the actual fog light fittings to replace your leaky ones, but he can no doubt sell you bulbs to fit whatever replacement holders you manage to get (maybe you could fix the ones you have with instant gasket?).

Fog lights are a special case, so do try to go for lower temperature output lamps (e.g. 3000k) rather than the usual ones that go up to 6000k, as the longer wavelength (redder) light in the 3000k ones will be less absorbed by water molecules/fog than the shorter (bluer) wavelengths (halogen filament lamps are around 2500k). Hopefully Jav can advise you on this.
