Got back on the 7th from a 2500 mile return trip to Rome.
The trip included all types of roads from Alpine passes,D and N roads to flat out Autostrada/Autoroutes the most miles in one day was 658.
Most of the time on the motorways was done with the cruise set at 80mph so the VTec was not operating(just under 4000rpm) the car was fully loaded and returned an amazing 42.8mpg!!
I was expecting about 32mpg ,car did'nt miss a beat and stood at the Rome cruise terminal for 8 days while we cruised the Eastern Med.
All in all I am realy please with the car,and the new aircon rad/pipes which cost me over £750 fitted at Honda just before we went came into its own with 37 degrees showing on the out temp gauge.

thems diesel numbers matey. good result!

6th gen 2.0i petrol 42mpg... how are you calculating mpg? seems exceptionally high

That is good but is it possible if so as Marcus said what is your calculation.

good stuff and is possible
Like brett says whats your formula for it?

I think the formula is total liters bought divided by roughly 4.5 then divide total milage by 4.5 and that should bring you at your mpg i think

miles driven / (litres bought / 4.5) = mpg.

I fill the tank to the brim on the level.Zero the trip, then at the next refill do the same ,see how many liters of petrol I've used divide by 4.5 for gals then divide the A trip mileage by the number of galons = MPG ,Double check with the overal mileage, also on a long trip like this I take the total mileage and divide by the total petrol bought. This gave a similar result.
My best leg of the trip was 47mpg my worst 35mpg,but most legs came up 42/43.We stoped for fuel 7 times ,The longest run between fuel stops was 543miles without the fuel warning light coming on.

The main thing is we did a lot of miles with the cruise control on at a constant throtle at 3900 rpm which is just below the Vtec operating .
Comuting to work going over 4000 rpm I get 32mpg best previous in England was 39mpg.

CC is far more economical than your right foot I found - Really wish i had it on my vans :(.

That's some great MPG results there. Congrats fella.

There have been so many differnent people asking about fuel consumption, and i think the general agreement is that the car will do between 350-450 MPG to a full tank.

All I know is that on a 600 mile run mine will do over 500 on one tank ,I'm aiming for over 550 on my next trip to annecy in July.

Sorry to resurrect a month old thread but I saw your advert in the For Sale section and the comment on the 45mpg got me wondering...

I have a Type-V with the 2.3 engine, when running on petrol I can barely scrape 32mpg - this is mostly long runs to work and back (5 miles A road then 30 miles dual carriageway sat on cruise control at between 65-70), and a little bit of town driving (15 miles a week).

This is with a serious Grandad driving, i.e. not going above 2k revs until engine warm, not going above 3k until on dual carriageway and then fix on cruise control, coming off CC at the junction markers and barely having to use the brakes by the end of the slip road etc.

On LPG I usually get around 28-29mpg which I accept as you do lose efficiency on gas. But if my petrol mpg was lower than it should be to begin with then I am losing out more than I should.

Just to avoid the obvious comments, the car is always serviced on time and parts replaced as per Honda schedule. The same with the LPG service - new filters each time.

What mpg do other 6th Gen Accord owners get?

I found it varies a lot depending on the journey Colin

On my old 6th gen 1.8i SE I used to get low 20s from cold start local commuting and 40 from a decent motorway run
