First full tank fill up of the new Tourer Diesel tonight. Had between 1/4 & 1/2 when got it last week and topped it up with V-Power Diesel.

By today had completed 420 miles and gauge was hovering just under the 1/4 tank and managed to get 49 litres in which is 75% of the 65 litres and so the gauge is pretty accurate which is good to know.

Consumption worked out to be 38.5 mpg which I'm pretty happy with considering most of the miles have been commuting to work and back which is a fair bit of stop/start and it was only half a tank of V-Power.

Confident the consumption will improve as the V-Power does it's job!

The worst consumption I've seen on my diesel tourer is 38.9mpg. It will get into the high 50's on a long flat motorway run at 70mph.

Can't say I've ever seen an improvement with V-power and I've been logging fuel and mileage for nearly 20,000 miles now.

I've reverted back to Shell regular diesel. I'm not experiencing any difference in power but the fuel consumption on motorways is actually better than V-Power!

I run standard diesel here, but add 200ml two stroke oil to a fill.
Since I got the car in Feb my worst has been 41.87 and the best 50.85mpg.

Its extremely difficult to measure the mpg improvement with advanced fuels due to many other, much larger factors, but they will maintain the cleanliness of your engine which in the long run will improve and maintain it's efficiency.

You have to trust me ! ;)

Know exactly what you're saying, but chucking another £6 in every tank gets expensive when you do 2500 miles a month.

I chuck a glug of redex in it now and again instead.

I know a lot of you aren't fans of fuel additives but personally I am and if you're unhappy with your mpg I can't recommend enough throwing a bottle of wynns formula gold diesel fuel additive in the tank. It'll cost you around fifteen quid in most places but it really is worth it. Not only will it clean your injectors much better than most other additives but it'll also do it much quicker so you notice the car has more go in it very quickly indeed.
I know a lot of you don't believe in additives but when it comes to Formula gold, don't knock it until you've tried it :)

Yes additives do work but I prefer them at a constant controlled rate in advanced fuels rather than a large slug at random intervals.

What i do is, fill her up with v-power once a month as it has the same fuel additive's that your throwing in.

Not necessarily bud no. Some fuel additives are quite mild where as others can be really strong and work very quickly. Each to their own of course but personally I like using additives, the better ones that is.

Filled up with BP ultimate as nectar points were on offer, never again, costs more and I dropped 5 mpg with no change of driving style, back to standard BP or shell

Had exactly the same experience with BP ultimate. Thought it was just me!
