fuel filler cap

So today i queued at Morrisons for petrol, finally got to the pump, pulled the petrol flap release lever , got out walked round and it was still shut.
went back pulled it again but nothing. had to leave forecourt without fuel. THIS LOOKS LIKE AN ECONOMICAL MOTOR.
Managed to get at it from inside the boot lining but thought there might be a backup to the pull handle?

That's a good question.

That reminds me a friend who bought an S2000 and made a very sad figure in its first fueling attempt, he was about 5 minutes figuring out how to open the fuel cap...(It was his first Honda) :lol:

May just need spring on flap adjusting, had a few do this, helps if there are two people, one to pull release one to pull on flap. Once open the spring, or catch, may need slight adjustment, or the hinges may be seized and need lubricating.

Ihave a Renault estate for work and that has an emergency pull lever in the boot in case the cable snaps.

My accord sport has this issue aswell. I bought it like it. I use a windscreen ice scrapped to hold the latch down and then push the cap to open it rather than using keys to flip it open.
Read somewhere you need to replace the full mechanism. But strangely it started working again about 2 months ago so I left it and now it has gone again. Thinking it could just be the spring that pops it open?

You can see if when you pull the "paddle" inside the car, if the "thingy" on the fuel cap goes inside and out, if so, it really could be just the spring...

was the spring. small bent panel pin and a squirt of superglue fixed it.
