Accord 2002
I just picked up a 2002 Accord about two weeks ago. From the drive home, it was obvious that the clutch needed doing on the car. I scheduled the work in with a local garage and picked the car up again today.

When driving around, i noticed a high pitch whine in 3rd and 4th gear, which seemed to get better with temperature. But then i noticed you can actually hear it in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I let the car cool a bit and took it out again, you can really get it going if you shift from 1st to 3rd.

Given that you can hear it in most gears, could it be related to something in the final drive? Is it possible that the clutch change (which i just had done is at fault)? Is it a botched job, the transmission wasn't making any of these noises before!

Any advice is most appreciated. We are supposed to be driving to Wales this weekend, I think i might need to cancel the trip.

NB./ I just went out to check the oil level in the transmission, the dip stick is missing!

good idea to check the oil level in the gearbox ....don't move it an inch until you can

My 6th gen manual didn't have a dipstick to check the gearbox oil - you had to undo the gearbox filler bolt from underneath the car to check the level.

Manual gearbox does not have a dipstick and the oil i snot burned off like with engine, if its started making noise after clutch change, then something happened here, take it back to garage and tell them to fix it.
