Hi there.
I have a 2006 Accord. About a year ago I had a slight bump on the front-nearside corner after skidding on snow/ice. At that point I was doing very short journeys at low speeds on country roads each day. After a few months and some motorway driving I noticed that I had a wobbly steering wheel after about 62 mph.
Initially I ***umed that it was just that the front wheels needing re-balancing. It turned out that I needed new front tyres anyway, so I got new tyres fitted and balanced. The wobbly steering wheel still happened. I ended up taking the car back to the tyre replacement garage 4 times and they are 100% that the front and back wheels are now balanced. They did discover a slightly buckled rear-nearside wheel though, and I have had that fixed now too.
The problem is that I still have a wobbyly steering wheel when driving at higher speeds. It tends to start at about 62-66mph and can be very wobbly on some motorway road surfaces. If I drive faster it still says wobbly and doesn't go away. Sometimes different surfaces will mean that it's fine at 70mph but slightly faster and it will start. Other surfaces can mean the problem starts at 65mph and gets worse at higher speeds.
Any ideas on what the problem might be bearing in mind all the tyres have good tread, the wheels are all checked & none are now buckled and that front and back wheels are properly balanced.
Thanks for your help in advance.
