By the looks of it there the wrong lamps.
You need H1 and you don't need the canbus ones.

Is it any H1 kit brett that will work? Like this kit http://www.amazon.co.uk/HID-Xenon-Ballast-Lampen-H1-55W-6000K/dp/B009UQHC3I/ref=sr_1_25?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1356539252&sr=1-25

These look ok but they will be brighter than the 35W ones. The trouble is there are so many to choose from.
TBO i would save your voucher and get the ones i posted in the link as there tried and tested.
This is my 2nd set as the 1 set was fixed to my 7th gen.

There not stock in the EX range only if you have the lane ***ist.
This is an optional thing when brought at a price of 2.5 k I think.
The type S diesel had hids as standard as well.

why dont you buy your self a kindle or something a bit nicer from amazon instead of a HID kit . .

you can buy a hid kit from ebay for £20 now!

my head hurts reading about hid kits and whats out there.

shocked that a new 8th gen ex has not HID standard.

Well I've taken the plunge - always wanted HIDs since the having them in a Passat years ago! Hoping the installation is as straightforward as it seems to be and looking forward to easier night driving in my 7th Gen Diesel! Thanks for the link :)

Lights arrived today - fast delivery! So that's one job to do at the weekend
Great stuff Dom don't forget the photos mate.

Dom not as hard as you think. I found taking the bumper off and removing the actual headlamps worked for me alot easier. However can be done with lamps still in the car but you can't hide the ballasts properly. Mine are currently installed to the underside of the headlamps, very oem indeed

Bumper on or off is the question! I've found a great write up by the hole so i'follow that and see how it goes :)

Pics to follow...

thanks :).
I have fittex HID's to all models and tbh the bumper off method takes around 20 minutes longer but is a much neater job.
I will drop you a pm with my phone number if you need ***istance :)

Cheers Adam much appreciated :)

well... after an afternoon session my HIDs are in and I am very chuffed - many thanks to Adam for his "how to" it made the job much easier.

I found upon replacing the existing halogens that one of them had been incorrectly fitted (which is probably why the light was poor to start with) by a motor factor.

Looking forward to easier night time driving from now on B)

Asked my garage (who do my mot's) yesterday about the legality of hids, he said he would fail an aftermarket fit. the warnings are there guys

Well it depence what garage you use for mot's, but i have never failed mot having HID's installed (8000K)
