Hi guys,

Recently (last month) I've noticed a high pitch screech coming from the engine as I release the clutch pedal. It doesn't happen every time but its frequency increases on inclined stop/starts.

I'll try to get an audio clip for you all to listen to.

Any idea's what this could be?

Regards

Schmee

Sounds like your clutch release bearing going dry.

Ok thanks brett.

After doing some quick googling it sounds like a labour intensive job.

I'll get on the phone to the dealer early next week. Before I do though I'll try and get audio clip see if it help any better

What grade is your car petrol or diesel.
Also what mileage have you done and any work done on the clutch in the past.
Also don't rule out a belt slipping or pully bearing

It's petrol, mileage is 73k.

I've only had services done, but no clutch work AFAIK.

I was thinking a petrol as I get this sometimes with mine.
TBH if the clutch bearing going dry this could easily be ok for another 50k
But worth getting it checked to see if it is the bearing. If so its worth having a complete new clutch as well.
Since I've had my car mapped by Fahad the noise has gone on mine though.
This might be due to a smoother rev change.

Alright cheers for the information.

I'll get a quote from the dealership.

I'll come back as let you know how much they quoted

I read about a way to lube your release bearing with a tube being fed down the side of the fork. It's a last ditch fix though to try only if your going to replace your clutch anyway. As the lube will mess up your pressure plate if it gets on it.
