High pitched whine when cold

Hi guys just a quick one. I've noticed now a few times that when I first start the car (2.4 tourer) that there us a high pitched whine until it's warm. The noise is related to engine so I'm guessing it could be alternator(ish)

Any help as always will be much appreciated

Haha I've checked it wasn't the wife as she makes quite a similar noise!

Apart from the guys' wives, the is a normal for the car.

It's can be really noticeable and it seems to be some kind of bearing. However, it's not the belt and generally is not an impending failure. I ignored it and never had a problem.

Given my battery going down problem, mine does the same.
Only for the first couple of miles - think it's the alternator putting out a high load to start the battery charge.

Mine also has a whine, but there is a receipt which I found which indicated there was a new alternator and battery fitted by previous owner, I hear the whine louder when I move the steering wheel when I'm parked, and sometimes when I'm slowing down in traffic. Did any if you guys ever found out what it was?
