Honda accord hard to start have to squeeze hand pump primer to get it started

I had a problem with my Honda Accord 2005 i-cdti and i ***umed it was the fuel filter (based on the symptoms) it would rev over 2,000 rpm.

So i changed the fuel filter, I bled the system, car started fine,

But the next day i had to hand prime it (ie squeze the hand pump above the filter to fill it and then I could start it, eventually the hand pump goes hard)
This symptom has continued, anyone any idea what is wrong?

Also if I rev the car up out sometimes it pulls back at 3 or 3,500 rpm.

I would be gratefull for any advice.

Is there a low pressure pump in the car which could be casuing the problem?
Or is it just an airlock?

What fuel filter did you use?

The low pressure fuel ('lift') pump is built into the same housing as the high pressure pump and shares the same drive. I'm guessing you've checked for any signs of a fuel leak? An airlock would soon be pulled through and removed from the system.

Did you fit the proper Honda OEM filter (made by Bosch)? Is the problem exactly the same as before you changed the filter? Did you check that the fuel lines to/from the filter are the right way round? (don't ***ume the original one was put on properly!)

Good advice from the guys and if this continues then i would say you have a leak somewhere in the fuel system.
Normally if fitted with a genuine filter you might get some trapped air but as Jon said this will soon dissipate.

check all your connections and bleed valve is done up. if it's only happened after FF change it's probably a leak somewhere.
