Hi all,
I am looking to remove the original radio from my 2001 accord, but the only info i can find shows a different dashboard to the one that is in my car?
I do not have a clock in the middle of the 2 centre vents. Does this mean i have a later dash? The radio on my car seems to be behind a moulded plastic insert which goes round the radio, heater controls, binnacle and seems to be held on with only 3 screws above said binnacle? I have undone these screws but it seems very reluctant to come off? I'm wondering if i should just pull harder or are there fixings that i'm just not seeing?
I have found various things online about removing the radio from a 2001 honda acord, but all show a different console/dashboard, including the haynes manual which is dated 1998-2002?

Any help would be much appreciated, i will post a photo of the dash/centre console up later just so it can easily be seen which exact one it is

Thanks in advance
Martin

What trim have you got? If it's a SE Exec or Type V with the Bose radio then the dial surround has to come off.

I tried to take mine out a few years ago to fit an x car link to the changer socket. Gave up when I couldn't budge the dial surround and didn't want to mark or break it.

Thanks for the replies lads, i eventually got into it............i found that link Tony, thanks mate. Still a total nightmare job to say the least :) ..............just need to get a suitable plug that'll let me fit some new(ish0 sounds

Cheers

The guide there shows the heater /ac panel coming out also. That is not connected to the radio is it? You can presumably leave that alone?

I'm afraid it is connected, and i had a hell of a job getting the whole lot out far enough to remove the 2 screws on each side of the radio, the heater controls and radio are connected with the one bracket. And i seem to have done something to the directional part of the controls, i can't get the air to clear the windscreen. So i'll need to do it all again and hope to fix the controls. Any hints/clues would be very helpful :)

the hardest thing I remember about changing my radio and fitting a after market one in, of course with a sub in the boot, was the aerial cable was too short and I cut my hand trying to make it reach. Ended up getting an extension cable to make it work. On my 7th gen, I thought about changing the cd player but Honda have put a CD/air con unit all in one and its too much hassle for me to even think about. Shame, miss that sub!
