Well, I've a 2.4 tourer and it's just under 1,600 kgs according to the latest NCT (or MOT) for the whole car. As you won't be jacking the whole car, a 2 ton one will do.

Personally, I've a 2 ton jack and 3 ton stands (1.5 ton each)

I have some 3 tonnes ones myself and would recommend you go for something overkill with things like this.

i picked up a set of 3 ton axle stands from euro car parts recently and they were only about £25. Really well made, and much better than the 2 ton ones i sill have. Agree with Saj that wWhen getting right under the car its best to go for something thats a bit overkill

Please do not scrimp on jacks and stands. I had a very near miss last year....

from memory these were rated at 3 tonne and only lasted two or three oil changes.

Get yourself some RIGID 3 tonne stands and a nice low access trolley jack.

AVOID COLLAPSIBLE STANDS!!!!!!

^Agree, avoid collapsable ones. I just dont trust the ratchet types either. I prefer the ones with the bolt going through.

Yeah figured it would be about 1.5 , that's good advice about overkill I ll go for the 3 tonne ones. Better safe then sorry plus there is a euro car parts 2 mins from my house
Cheers guys
