I'm probably being stupid but I can't find a price for service parts. Is there a thread?

Also, found this place:
http://www.hondapartsandaccessories.com/product/2007_2.2L_Accord_Oil_Filter_With_Sump_Washer_15430RBDE02AC3
They any good? I ***ume they're proper parts. Is that a good price?

Holdcroft quoted me £8.99 for filter and £0.42 for washer, my local dealer is going to price match them.

Also look on ebay, lots of dealers sell parts cheaper on there

Not a bad price and includes delivery and from a Honda Dealer and to be honest would work out cheaper for me to buy that than drive to my dealer for one!

Howards Garages Taunton also have loads of Honda service stuff at good prices (there on ebay too)

On behalf of HH - if they give a quote, and a local dealer has to price match... It might be an idea to go with HH - otherwise they might get a little miffed with people phoning for prices all the time, but not buying.... Not trying to have a pop or anything!!

Awesome thanks, was £28 for a filter for my Delica!!! Biggest oil filter on any production vehicle apparently!!

Getting my tyres on Saturday. Gonna order my cleaning bits and clay bar as well as some touch up paint for stone chips. So for service I think I'll just do oil and filter for now. Can always do air and pollen etc some other time, don't fancy the fuel filter on my own really so I'll leave that.

Guys why not just support are affiliated Honda dealer.
IMO they will always come up trumps with the best deal so why go else where.

Because that would make them a monopoly, surely it's more important that this site treats it's members with the most respect? The affiliated dealer should be doing their best to keep us on side not the other way around. If they're more expensive or awkward to deal with I've got no problems going elsewhere, if they can match prices/delivery times etc. then I'll happily favour them over the rest.

Trev, I think you misunderstood.... It is the other dealers that are price matching our affiliated dealer. Brett and I are merely asking that if HH give you a price that another dealer has to go back and price match on; that you support HH buy buying from them. Getting prices together takes time and if members are just phoning them up to get a base price to haggle with another random dealer then all it is doing is wasting HH's time and will make them less likely to help in the future. Doesn't really have much to do with Ta giving members respect.

HH give the member the best price. the other dealer was happy to charge full whack until it thought it would loose the sale.

Example.

Mr Smith phones HH. Asks for price for a few bits an bobs as a member. HH spend the next half an hour checking prices and seeing what can be done for a TA member.

Mr Smith gets prices.

Mr Smith calls dealer B and asks for prices (try mentionig TA first ). Prices are more than HH's. Dealer says HH will do it for £XX.XX

Dealer B changes prices.

HH spent half an hour getting Mr Smith a deal and didn't get the sale. Other dealer was happy to get more out of Mr Smith up to the point he was going to go back to HH.

We have a lot of members, and most are not regular contributors, they have the ability to phone through without mentioning it here (so we do not know how often it happens).

Please, I was not trying to start a hot debate over this, merely that members consider the fact that HH is a business in its own right, and it is not fair that TA's relationship with them is used to benefit another dealer that A) does not recognise TA as an entity, and B) didn't give Mr Smith a good deal in the first place.

I agree with Dan and Brett,

I also think that people should read the Holdcroft Thread.

Lastly Guys, if members see a deal better than the above from HH , please take it... but please do not use the above price to gain any sort leverage by playing other dealers quotes with HH.

I can speak for HH in this matter they are not in a Price war with other dealers.

Any member seen\ heard to do this will get a warning or suspension, on hearing both sides of the story.

Holdcroft have a good relationship with many forum members and have often been helpful beyond normal dealer service.

Nobody is saying you have to buy from HH, it is just that HH are kind enough to do a small discount for the benefit of forum members, it is unfair to them and other dealers to then use this as a bartering tool.

It is a bit like the corner shop mentality, nobody uses it and then complains when it is gone.

Equally there is nothing wrong in supporting your local or any dealer for that matter, but Holdcroft offer the discretionary discount for forum members, not to enter a dutch auction with other dealers.

Please can we respect this.

I agree with all that, I thought you were suggesting we just go to HH to start with and never look elsewhere, saying
they will always come up trumps with the best deal so why go else where.
implies that IMO.
Like I said in my reply, if the price is very similar or even if HH is a bit more but the alternative is a poor eBay advert for example, I'd go with the reputable HH. I haven't even phoned them yet anyway, I'm looking at the general prices first.

Cool bananas :D

Whoaaaa! I wasn't playing dealers off against each other I ordered my service parts from HH cos they were cheaper than my local dealers. When I was getting my a/c done I was in parts and talking to the parts manager about general stuff he said he'd sell me service bits at the prices HH had sold me them at he also said that some of the prices HH had sold me stuff for was pretty much cost price but they would still have made money on them due to the high stock turnover.

So yes HH are bending over backwards for TA members and I think that's great and there service is always spot on.

Hope that clears things up a bit didn't wanna go starting rows etc!

No worries Dave - I wasn't having a pop  but thought it was a handy thread to mention it.
