Hi guys!

I suspect my ignition coil is not at 100% and I am thinking on replacing it, after all it has 11 years...
An after-market is about 55€, and a Honda one is about 90€.

My question: is it worth to buy an Original Honda ignition coil or an after-market ignition coil is as good as an Original one?
Any experience(good or bad) with after-market ignition coils?

iv had no experience with this but as shabz says you can't go wrong if you use an Honda original one

Yeah, I guess that I will go for a Honda one.
Now I just have get the courage to spend 90€

For a coilpack, genuine for sure.

Pedro mate, what symptoms does the car have mate???

As some of you know, my car is running on LPG. Sometimes I have a slight hesitation on lower revs, running on petrol and on LPG, but more noticeable on LPG.
The LPG is more sensible to ignition system problems, which might even not be seen while running on petrol.

The spark plugs are ok, the distributor cap and rotor are new, the spark-plug wires are relatively new and are 8mm Magnecor wires, so, the ignition coil is the only thing that is left to replace.

Besides it, the car is drinking too much while compared to others like mine, also running on LPG. When I replaced the lambda sensor, it got better, but it's still not as it should be. I know its not a LPG tunning problem because the car has always been like this since I installed the LPG kit, and I have already went to two of the best LPG installers in Portugal, and the result is the same.

It's not the car is not driving ok, because it's good, last time I checked, it get to 215km/h running on LPG with the AC on and with a passenger, so I can say it drives ok :D, but I want it to be just perfect :D

I have already ordered the coil from Honda, it should get tomorrow morning. As soon as I get it, I will replace it.

I hope it fixes the problem, or at least the it gets better. If not, there is no problem, since the ignition coil is something that gets old and degrades with time, so, sooner or latter I woudl have to replace it.

I have just installed the coil.

At first glance, the car seemed to get smoother while going up the revs, at least on lower revs.

Also, the old coil has some rust and a big "stain" is visible in the black plastic, which does not seems normal....

Here's a picture of the old one, where its possible to see the rust as well as the "stain":
