Hi. So far I've taken the egr off, as well as the butterfly valve. Given them a thorough clean. But looking into the Inlet manifold. It's filthy. Cleaned what I could from the outside. Was a good 8mm gunk around the edges. The egr pipe was about 2cm in diameter because of the gunk. (surprised it still functioned). So I was wondering, how hard a job is it to remove the Inlet manifold for cleaning?

I know a few members have removed and cleared out their inlet manifolds, so do search for their threads (use Google, if necessary). The first person here who made a thread was, I think, one of our admins, 'TypeR'.

I wouldn't worry about the EGR pipework being restricted... if it gets overly restricted and the engine cannot control the flow then the MIL will come on and an appropriate code will flag up. The key thing is to ensure that the valve fully closed properly without delay.

Hi

Yes I did this on my previous Accord. It made a real difference and definitely worth doing. I had a flat spot and by doing this it fixed it. Power delivery came back perfectly and the sound of the engine was smoother.

That said it is a fair bit of dismantling to get to this stage for cleaning but definitely worth doing for me.
