not catastrophic, but more difficult to accomplish ......25 years ago the missus put engine oil into the LHM reservoir on our Citroen BX
I don't know why she thought it needed engine oil. To put it in, you have to pull up the cap where the breather pipes are, just inward from the bonnet-catch.
The LHM reservoir is the big green thing bottom left.
The owner's manual had a similar picture but with big arrows and labels.

I would never have such problems with my missus as she wouldn't have a clue how to open the bonnet.
Quite impressive what a mess 5l of screenwash does to an engine. I think an oil change and a can of seafoam will sort it out.
