Knocking noise from front left

The front left of my car is making a small knocking noise. It's not very loud and it doesn't do it over large bumps or heavy cornering. It does it on small dips where the suspension extends and then compresses again in quick succession. I'm guessing it might be a droplink but could it be a balljoint? To replace balljoints do you have to replace the whole arm? I also heard it might be the compliance bushes. I'm gonna sound stupid here but what are they? Where are they? How can I check mine are ok? My car has done 163K so understandably the front end feels a little baggy/vauge (perhaps I'm just used to my MX5 though) so I think some parts may be in need of refreshing. Any advice is appreciated, also does anyone know a decent priced place to get parts from near Milton Keynes that isn't eurocarparts? Not that there's anything wrong with them it's just nice to have options.

It could be a few things. You need it diagnosed first. Then you can take it from there. It doesn't sound urgent and it's unlikely to be hugely expensive so no need to be too concerned.

Plenty of aftermarket parts on eBay of varying quality.

Mine did this, And only at slow speeds, replaced the drop links and all was ok. Well, because the front was quite I could then hear the the rear droplinks and arb bushes so had the change them also.

Main bushes in bottom wishbone think it's called the compliance bushes but big ones at front of wishbone
