The latest thing to go wrong. Anyone know cheaper than £110 for one for the saloon?

Check ebay. Make sure to buy a NGK/NTK!
Find the right reference for your car, then look for it in ebay, I bought one NGK from in ebay for my 1.8, year 200 accord, and it was about 70£.

There you are Mike, job done :lol:

Gordon it might be worth a quick phone call to them mate. There's usually someone there on a saturday till about lunch time.

Hi All,

Just out of paranoia - Can anyone please confirm that this is the correct sensor for my 2000 1.8 Accord, Engine No. F18B2?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330447278276&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

- Also whats this pre-cat thing all about? I've no actual issue except for poor fuel economy, hoping the above will sort it, even if it saves me £5 a week it won't be long paying for itself - Is this all I need to buy, I think I read somewhere you need a special tool to remove old/fit new? Could someone please post a link if so?

According to http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_commercial_search.php?type=LAMBDA%20SENSORS&manufact=HONDA&model=ACCORD%20VII&engine=1.8&pos=Front , that is the right sensor for your car. And yes, it can help you with the fuel economy.

To remove it you might need an O2 sensor wrench. I bought one of those it was not easy to work with it on our cars, because it was to high and there was almost no clearance to fit the wrench.

You can also try a good spanner to remove it..

The tools are something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oxygen-lambda-sensor-removal-fitting-sockets-22mm-7-8-/360380774880?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item53e85e39e0

If your car has 2 O2 sensors, they should be relaced as a pair. Off the top of my head i can't remember if there are 2 or only 1. :blush:

Thanks for this Folks - How would I find out if I have two - Is it the exact same part that is used pre and post cat?

- I'd be very grateful if someone could post on here to advise.

Again its a 2000 1.8 Accord, Engine No. F18B2.

Finally I have a decent Draper socket set, would I have a fair shot at these with just that! (Sorry - I know thats vague!!!)

The front and rear sensors are different:
Front: NGK OZA501-H17 -> http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_commercial_search.php?type=LAMBDA%20SENSORS&manufact=HONDA&model=ACCORD%20VII&engine=all&pos=Front
Rear: NGK OZA333-H19 -> http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_commercial_search.php?type=LAMBDA%20SENSORS&manufact=HONDA&model=ACCORD%20VII&engine=all&pos=Rear

Mine is also a year 2000 1.8 Accord with engine F18B2 engine and it has only the front sensor. Still, I now there are cars with the same engine from the same year which have 2 sensors...

Thanks for that skhell - So is it correct to say that I need to visually inspect to confirm this?

- Not familiar with the territory at all if I'm honest! Wouldn't be confident of knowing what to look for and making the right call?

If you look under the car, the first element of the exhaust system is the catalytic converter. In front of the catalytic converter there should be a sensor with some wires coming out of it. If your car also has one in the rear of the cat, the same would happen in the rear of the sensor...

There's no way to miss them B)
Just make sure you get under the car, since they should be in the upper port of the exhaust tube.

^^What he said ;)

Changing them, ***uming you can SAFELY get under the car will only take about 2 mins....if that.

Good luck dude.

After changing sensor the car went one mile and then the light came on again. Took it to a Bosch tester and he anounced that there was a lambda sensor problem, and that it was working but not talking to the CPU. Several hours and £200 later it was still not on speaking terms with the CPU and I was not impressed. He said that given another day he "MAY" have found the missing link but I was not going there. Car runs fine, no judders, no power loss so will have to live with it for a bit and hope it goes away?
Can turn it off for an hour before any MOT, may run rich but what is the worst that can happen?

Please recall-me, what sensor make did you used?
Is it an Honda sensor, a NGK sensor, or some other brand or universal sensor?

Must be Mickey Mouse though bought through a UK company, will try another.

What?!?

It's known that Honda don't like all oxygen sensors. I know from experience that NGK specific to our cars work as they should.
I guess Denso will also work. About Bosch or other non Japanese make, I would stay away from them!

Wish I could charge for not fixing stuff.
