After having all my stereo stuff gathering dust I decided to install my sub last weekend. Should have done it ages ago in hindsight. I've only got the basic CD player headunit and as there are no pre outs I simply spliced the speaker wires near the headunit, fed those to the high level inputs for my amp, gave it power through the gromit in the bulkhead, ground on the seat post as the amps under the passenger seat. Bobs your uncle, succulent bass in the Tourer. Not as good as quality as it could be via pre outs but still very acceptable.

Sounds nice man. Got any pics of your setup?

Thanks for the interest but it's not really picture worthy. The amp is fairly small and is tucked under the front seat with the rear mat on top, you wouldn't know its there unless you were told. All the wires are hidden under the carpets/side trims and there's hidden speaker wire going to the sub in the boot.

How you you get the power to it, I have a sub box with built on amp ready to go in the boot and understand I'd have to splice the speaker wires, but was wondering about how to get power to the amp in the boot? Also, what about the "remote" wire, which effectively turns the amp/sub on/off depending on whether the signal is sent from the headunit? Just trying to get this straight before attempting.

just out of interest, which grommit in the bulkhead did u feed the power cable through? passenger side or driver side? I am planning on doing the same, but the only dilemma is always where to feed the power cable through. The easiest remote wire feed i can think of is the cigarette lighter? cheers!
