Hello Lads, maybe this has been mentioned before...
Basically, If the coolant level goes low, and as a result the engine temp increases, the car will go into Limp mode without any warning lights on dash or fault codes on the ECU.
I lost a small amount of coolant when I removed the inlet manifold for cleaning.. I didn't refill it, and this morning on my 20 mile trip to work I noticed that I had no warm air.. After 15 miles, Limp Mode kicked-in, and I crawled the last 5 miles at 20 -30 MPH.
Topped up the coolant at work, heater came back on, and the car is driving fine again.
Just something to keep in mind...

Interesting. Did your temp gauge rise, and if so bay how much? Mine is locked about 3mm below half -come rain or shine.

Honda temp gauges are a bit odd. Like you say, they do 'lock in' just below half way... I understand this position doesn't directly relate to engine temp (as you might think) but is set by the ECU whenever the actual temperature is within a certain band. So the whole thing is a big fiddle!

You might have also had a small pocket of air trapped in the coolant system.

Yep.. My temp gauge went to just above half-way...nothing to notice really, so I'm grateful for the Limp-Mode kicking in, otherwise it could've been terminal..
So the thing is take note of your Temp Gauge when everything is "Normal"...so if it deviates then you know that there's something amiss.
