Hello Barry
Welcome along, I would suggest you introduce yourself before posting questions. You will get more people responding.

Back to your problem, what symptoms does the car have?

Great first post.

Going by what you said, it means there is a fault with your car. Bit more info and a post in welcome section may get you more responses.

Hi done that now, back to the problem.......no symptoms really just the yellow malfunction light staying on.Any help or suggestions?

Do a search for how to read the eml code. There's loads of info on here, even more via Google.

You can either use the paper clip method or if you have a later model and have the obd2 port you can take it to a garage and get the code read, or get a code reader yourself from Amazon or EBay.

Once you have got the code, there is a sticky at the top of the 6th gen section with a list of the majority of codes and their descriptions.

Good reply colin, however we don't know much more as Barry has not introduced himself and his car.

Barry suggest that you give A lot more information such as model, age, mileage etc. These details will help determine the background of your car. As it stands your post is useless as we have no details.
You have the EML light on, get it read and then go from there.

Maybe I missed it???

A code reader will be the best way forward i think.

IF the car still drives like it should then there's not really anyway of knowing what might be causing the problem.

There are a couple of usual things that cause the light to come on. These could be the EGR plate/valve, or maybe an O2 sensor. These are the two most common things that cause the EML to come on.

Be sure to let us know what code you get, sure it won't be anything too serious. I posted a list of fault codes on this 6th gen section, so hopefully the code you get you should be able to get the answer from that.

my money would be on the O2 sensor. The 2.0 engine uses a wideband sensor which means a cheap aftermarket will not work. You are looking at around £180 for the part from your local dealer. Hard to find it cheaper anywhere else from my experience. But as said above, get the code read first, then take it from there.

why not using self diagnostic first? its a fastest way to find out problem (90%of all)

Brief update.I was advised to disconnect the battery overnight, having done this and driven quite a few miles today the light is now off.
I dont know what has happened really, but the car is driving fine. But I will keep a check on the EML.
Thanks for the good advice guys.

to reset warning light you do not need to disconnect battery overnight. Take out ecu/backup fuse for 30seconds is enough

good result mate, keep us updated with progress. It could be just a one off fault that has now cleared

By disconnecting the battery for longer than 10 mins you have reset the ecu. For some reason, in some cases this will sort the problem.

Some members on here dispute this, but this goes to show that it does sometimes solve the problem.

hes got the newer obd2b so will need a 16pin code reader to check EML

my money would have been on an 02 sensor too but if hes driving it the now it throughs dout :S

my front 02 sensor went and i fitted a second hand 1 from the scrapy and problem solved but then the second sensor failed LOL

so bought a NGK sensor for £50

then the front went agian Grr  (hate seen the same codes agian)

so got anther NGK for £50 problem solved :D

DONT buy the bosch 1s as they dont last long on hondas for some odd reson, guy from autoparts :D

Your soo right about the 2L having 02 sensors go, especially at the 100k mark

i'm pretty sure when I went to see Chris (hondavtecr) he had a brand new 02 sensor for an accord, not sure what model and year but I think it was a genuine honda part. He said he was going to sell it. Maybe drop him a PM and ask if he stills has it and if it will fir your car. Thats ***uming it is your 02 sensor that is
