Can you mix different brands of oils?

I've got about 2l left of my Castrol Edge, and the rest I want to top up with the Lubetech oil, both 0W30 obviously. Is that OK? Otherwise I don't have enough containers for the old oil until I empty the Castrol tub.

I've done it in a few cars and never had an issues, as you say they are both the same grade so should be ok. If it had gone in for a service you don't normaly know what brand oil they use and would be happy to use a different branded one as a top up

You shouldn't have any problems but it's recommended to use the same oil type.

Different oils will have slightly different additive packs, but I'd do it as long as they're the same viscosity. No point binning good oil!
