Accord Tourer Type S
Hello peeps,

I've just taken my accord tourer for its mot and unfortunately its failed due to both nearside and offside and i quote" front suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement"

I asked the reception guy for a quote and he came back sometime later with £212.40 each side for lower arms and ball joint replacement, so a total of £424.80. This includes labor and vat.

Now am i missing something here, does the whole thing need replacing just because of a Rubber Bush??

I need advice please :(

Hi

I would say no.
I did mine for its mot, you can buy the front bush on its own for about £35 for a pair (Honda) and about an hours labour for each side. but you need to press the old bushes out and press the new ones in
Hope this helps

cheers charlie

Im not 100% if this is the correct arm but if it is they sell buses for all the joints ;)

No way. You can replace just the rubber ball joint with a press. They are only £14 + 45 minutes a side. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-FRONT-Lower-Ball-Joint-Set-HONDA-ACCORD-03-08-/220714894110?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3363a2031e

Buy the parts yourself and get any decent mechanic to fit them. You will be looking at around £100 for labour.

Or you could be lazy and replace the whole lower arm which coincidently already has the ball joint attached and charge a fortune.
Never ever ever go to that garage again.

Thanks for the replies guys, so it seems i'm being taken for a mug.

Can anyone recommend a garage/mechanic in the warwickshire area??

mmmm sounds like they cant be bothered to change the bush so they are going to replace the arms lazy ******s.

Thats not the rubber bush thats the bottom ball joint

True, i didn't read the opening post properly just ***umed it was the ball joint as this is the usual suspect.. Either way its the same principle and can be replaced easy enough. They are £18 each from the dealers or you can bid on this and potentially get a bargain.

Theres more than one bush theres a forward facing bush and a rear facing bush make sure you get the right one id buy the bush then get a good garage to quote you for fitting the only thing youve got to watch is when they take the arm off they dont damage the ball joint dust cover cuz thats a fail as well and they are easy to damage.
