MPG figures for 2.4 petrol

Best I've ever had from a Type S Tourer 03 is 30mpg, that's on a long mainly motorway run, keeping on about 3000rpm in 6th. Am going to try and drive a little more sensible and see if I can improve it. Every other time I've checked it's been about 27mpg...

 a heinous accusation sir...pistols at dawn !!!
 I will be going down the same road.My oil chained id due in 1600 miles and i have 5-30w silicon pro ready ;)I will be doing this myself at my mate garage on his ramp.Im not paying dealer prices :)

I'm going to try and drive a little more 'sensibly' and see what happens. Also looking into LPG, anyone had it done?...

Hi folks,
As a recent buyer of a 2006 2.4 auto saloon I read this thread with interest..thought I'd try an economy drive with my car on this mornings commute...its 35 miles from where I join the M80 to finish outside Edinburgh on the M9..early enough not to have much traffic, route has a few steady climbs but at an average of 60mpg gave me 46.5 mpg (according to the computer anyway)...chuffed with that...pretty sure I could have done better with an empty road, cruise on and warmer temps (it was -2 !)...not bad for a 10 year old big engine automatic and 72k on the clock...of course if I factor in the B roads I have to drive to get to the motorway I'm in mid 30's..ish

Wow I see good figures. After all modifications, mine is getting a bit more. In Town around 22-24mpg. But on long run easy to achieve 34-38mpg. My best result was 42mpg, a day when I bought it and was backing from Cambridge to Manchester :)
Long run to Europe, with German autobahns 38mpg, 450-500miles on a tank :D

From 30 quid of Shell Vpower which is around 24 litres, I get around 130 miles doing a lot of around town driving. For the weight of the vehicle and being a 2.4 I don't think the mpg is all that great, Infact terrible.. but I love it so

From £30 I get at least 150 miles on my 2.4 tourer
