Music on USB

I have my music an a USB and i have this plugged into the car. It is works great but the menu is a bit of a pain as it does not have the Artist's name on the folder, only the album name. With only the 50 or so albums i have uploaded so far as a 'tester' this is ok, but when i get serious numbers this will be a bit difficult.

Also, is there a way of going to the album i want without having to scroll through everything?

And lastly, where on earth are my playlists kept on itunes to drag over. That one i just cannot work out.

Playlists only appear in the car if you connect an iPhone or iPod, don't think you can copy them to a USB stick.

That's a shame. To connect the iPod so it plays do I need a special cable?

The normal Apple USB charging/sync cable. My old iPhone connects fine, and I can see my playlists.
