Hi all fellow Accordians!, Serviced my TypeV 2 weeks ago, probably the easiest car i've ever had for the job.

Well today I feel like taking a baseball bat to the thingf!!!!

Starts up this morning, switches the lights on and the N/S dip beam has failed! so I pick up a H7 bulb on the way to
work with the intention of changing the thing when it gets light, fast forward a couple of hours and delve into the back of the
headlight ***embly.

As you'll no doubt be aware theres a wire clip that secures the bulb in the housing, which you squeeze together to release
on one side and hinge out of the way to remove the bulb, great drags out old ******ed bulb and the clip comes off as well!!!!

There's so little access behind that it looks like the whole headlight ***embly will have to come out!!!! there seems to be a bolt on the
top and a bolt on the side in front of the radiator, taken them out and the headlight wont budge! it looks like the ****** bumper has to come
off!

Has anyone got any idea please, because i'm getting seriously hacked off with it....

I know your pain fella. I hadto change my bulbs about 9 months ago and it was the fidliest thing i think i've ever done! But i persevered and got there in the end. The bulb should come out without taking the light out. It's just very very fiddly.

There are no tricks to doing it though...sorry about that. Just got to keep on trying.

Sorry fella.

Simon.

Cheers mate but the bulb retaining spring has come off, and I can see no way to sort it without the headlamp coming out

It doesn't help that i've got hands the size of dinner plates, i'll make my way home in cyclops mode and have a proper
look at it tomorrow..

Regards Rob

Yeah, bumper does have to come off to remove the headlight, there is 1 more bolt you need to get at.

I hate replacing either of the headlight bulbs on the passenger side, I struggle to get my hands in. Just wait till you try to get the rubber cover back on.

Have you got a small child handy? They will fit!

Double thread merged ;)

All the lights are an ar53h0le to change. The rear lights involve taking half the liner out. My old Rover had a simple flap in the liner that you lifted up and you had access. This thing needs three hands to operate!

Hi All! all done now, it's amazing what a nights sleep and a day off from the coal face does to lower your stress levels!!

Took 10 minutes phew!

Regards Rob..

hehe, great result dude. I've decided if i ever cjange my bulds again without doing the ballasts i'm just gonna get someone else to do it for me
