Posted these questions in my newbie topic, but no response so far.....wrong place i guess

I'm very close to making a deal on a 2008 2.0 manual sedan. During the testdrive i noticed the issues below. Could you guys please comment?

1. Starting the engine i heard a whistleing noise from the startmotor right after the engine picked up. Never heard a car make such a sound before. Dealer said it was normal for a Honda. Is it?

2. Idle rpm was i bit low +/- 700 rpm, 650 with ac on, at that point the engine started to vibrate a bit. Is this a normal rpm?

3. Speakers in the rear doors dont work. It does have 2 speakers right below the rear window. Brochure says 6 speakers. Are they counting the seperate tweeters on the front as speakers?

4. I'm considering having park distance control installed in the rear. Any tips? should i go Honda original?

5. The car has 16 inch rims with 205 60 R16 tires. How big is the difference going to 17 inch 225 50 R17.
Does anybody have hands on experience in this change? I'm looking for a sportier ride and this should also look a bit better. I'll probably buy new tires anyway...

My car is the 2.4 7th gen Tourer (estate), but I'll try to answer the questions

1. No
2. just about
3. don't know as my car is different
4. no idea
5. I think there are many threads/discussions about this ....but I don't read those LOL

This is the 2.0 R series engine, also in the Civic.

1.The aux belt may be slipping a bit. They do whine a fair bit even when good. The EGR valve on the back corner of the engine also clicks. All normal.
2. Idle speed is low, especially when aircon is on.
3. Speakers are a common failure, get some money off, Honda dealer may replace under warranty.
4. Make sure the person knows Hondas and doesnt short the electrics out.
5. Bigger wheels and tyres look nice, the 17" tyres are quite a lot more expensive.

Its a good engine which will last many years if serviced annually. Cam chain drive, Valve clearances need checking at 75k miles.

I have the 2008/9 2.0/iVtec EX since new with 225 50 R17's

So I can't compare it to 16s.
But I can say the ride is very smooth indeed, feels fantastic to be fair. Looks great.

When I saw these in showroom back in 2009 upon making my purchase and compared the same car side by side one with 16s the other with 17s the look and stance was totally different.
Car doesn't look complete sitting on 16s in my opinion (like a pornstar wearing slippers instead of stripper heels hahaaha.)
