Changed my alternator belt today, and got rid of the pulley hoping to sort out my ratley noise that I have, no joy started it up and all I get is cha cha cha cha cha cha I've had a good listen and it sounds like it coming from to top of the cam so I take it it's the timing chain wish I just kept my audi now

Alternator sounds ok, noise is differently coming from around the camshaft area like a clattering/scratching sound.

Do u thing I have a right to take The car back to the garage I bought it off, it's been 6 weeks now

Where did you buy it and what warrenty did they give you Mark

not sure but it's worth getting it diagnosed properly as if it's the chain then you looking at a repair bill of 3k from Honda. That would be just cause to request a refund Imo.

A car has to be of merchantable quality and be expected to last a reasonable amount of time so yes take it back. They can't get away with saying you have no warranty.

Right so I need to get the car inspected, do I need to go to trading standards or just see what the garage says first

It could very easily be a worn chain... lots of YouTube clips of what a worn i-CTDi engine chain sounds like. Maybe familiarise yourself? Usually a rubbing/chafing/scratching sound, but depends on which chain it is and whether it's stretched or a tensioner has failed.

Trading Standards could become necessary, but see what the garage say first.
