I have some noise coming from the sunroof area on my Accord. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and if they have a solution. It seems to only occur for the 5-10 mins while the engine is cold which may sound unusual. The car was recently purchased from Honda in just the last one month so I was thinking of going back to them but if there is a quick fix I wouldn't mind giving it a go.

It's prob the cold temp outside mixing with the warm temp in the cabin.
You will notice this more when it's icy on the roof.

I thought it might be that but I wasn't getting it earlier last month and it did get very cold a few weeks ago where I am. I have only starting having this issue in the last week or so which makes me think it is something else.

Have you opened and closed the roof? and have you lifted and dropped the trailing edge, ie forward and back for the slidey bit and push up on the switch for the vent tilt.

V can you take a VID of the noise to help diagnose the problem if its not what i said.

The roof is fully closed when driving, I messed about with it this morning but am still getting the same problem. Thanks for letting me know about the push up switch I wasn't aware that I could do that :)

I tried taking a video this morning using my phone but the noise is not really audible. I will try again on my way home from work later this evening.

I do have asthma actually!!!! But this has nothing to do with the sunroof :)

listened to it again, sounds like wind noise, have you tried driving with the roof open/tilted? and does the noise increase, got to admit it's a strange one. The camera your using could it be slotted onto the top of the inner cover, picture does not matter it's the noise we are after.

I will have a listen when I finish work as I can't get the vid up on my phone

I agree their is a bit of wind noise there but about 40 secs in the noise is quite clearly audible. I will try an gather some more audio and will try slotting my phone between the sun-visor and the roof, hopefully it won't fall on my head :)

I haven't tried tilting/opening the roof but I will give it go on my way back home from work.

Cheers

V are you sure this is not the roof lining making this noise.Iv got this on mine and im sure it needs a small amount of glue to sick the lining back proper.

Sorry couldn't really hear anything unusual from the vid, ( I genuinely cannot hear certain sound levels) however is it more like a wind noise or a tapping.

Something that might be worth a try is if you haven't already done so. When you get a good day, fully open the sunroof and clean the whole area, then partially close the sunroof and clean and inspect the seal. Dry everything before fully closing sunroof, then tilt sunroof and clean remaining seal, again drying before closing.

Are you certain it is coming from the sunroof area, and not where the HFT mic is ?

I appreciate everyone's help on this thread - thank you all for your support.

I have been unexpectedly rather busy these past few days so haven't been able to try anything. I have been trying to take some audio and video but to no avail as the mic I have on my phone isn't really sensitive enough.

I will give the suggestions in this thread ago and report back.

Thanks again

I just wanted to report back as it has been a while.....

I have given the sunroof lining a good clean and used some glue hold it in place. The noise has reduced somewhat which is good. I now have some noise coming from the front passenger window but that is something else :)

Thank you all for your help.

Thanks for the feedback much appreciated

That's the trouble with noises. You get rid of one, only to find that you can now hear something else!
