Thanks for a great forum, have been lurking here a while and have now owned a ctdi sport accord for 5 weeks. The car now has 113k miles, 1000 of which are in my ownership. I am now noticing a whine from the belt area, worse after a long run, or when its properly hot.

Hopefully I can do a warranty claim, its being checked by a garage tomorrow to establish which of the pulleys it is, but I'm confused about the revised shorter belt I have seen talked about in other posts. If we need to order this, what exactly do we ask for?

Again, many thanks

Hi mate, hopefully the whining noise you here wont be alternator bearing. The longer belt puts to much pressure on alternator through one of the pulleys that is removed when revised belt is fitted. You dont have to ask really as all belt fitted now are the revised ones and the offending pulley will be removed. Let us know, Dan

Sorry, I should have said that an independant garage will be looking at it, and he's not seen a honda give trouble apart from the dreaded camchain, this is an 06 facelifted 6 speed model. The guy hasn't heard of a belt modification, unless he know's someone in the local dealer he can ask.

The noise can't be heard inside the car, only from outside or if the window is cracked open, makes no difference if aircon is on or off either. It's just a bit of a whine but it is annoying me.

What's troubling me is I have a 1000 mile round trip to the mainland in a couple of weeks, and I'm worried about a bearing siezing on the motorway or something.

Thanks again
