Odd tourer tailgate problem

Hi
My 2006 tourer has an issue with its tailgate.
Opens fine on remote and handle but close it on the remote on tailgate button and it will fault. The boot won't open and I have to disconnect the battery to reset it.
Close it manually and no problem, won't fault and will open on the remote.
I've looked through the various posts to find a similar problem.
Has anyone else had similar and found a solution?

I've recently fixed a problem with my tailgate. It just ceased to operate. So maybe yours could have a problem with a broken wire on the nearside tailgate hinge area I found one wire had broken I soldered a new section of wire in place. heypresto all working now. Happy wife now
