Recently when doing an oil change and removing the oil filter ive noticed the plastic gauze bit has been broken inside , has anyone else done this because its happened a few times when doing an oil change on my Accord CDTI ?

It isn't something that I've read about or that has happened to us yet. Hopefully someone will be along to advise you :)

Not heard of this generally happening before.

How are you changing the "O" rings any chance it could be happening there?

I take it your using genuine oil filters.

When putting the filter back in, is everything lined up and have you put new oil on the "O" rings ?

Just check that there is no obstructions in the filter housing, causing it to compress when re-fitting.

how many times has this happened ?

This has happened 3 times now , I change the o rings very carefully and always use genuine oil filters so I dont know how this happens ?

Is the plastic gauze broken before you remove the old filter? There was a thread on here a while ago about the accord having two slightly different lengths of filters. I wonder has the housing being changed to the longer length or something?

Yes mate the plastic gauze is broken before I remove the filter , everytime I order a part they ask for my registration so I cant see how they would get the filter wrong , its all gone back together okay even with the gauze broken , a new filter housing should be with me tomorrow or Thursday from Holdcroft Honda
