Hello lads, I'm writing on behalf of a colleague of mine. For a while, he's been complaining that the engine feels very sluggish at times and almost stalls in traffic. Reading the codes they're always P2008 and P2004, which would indicate IMRC solenoid valve circuit open and IMRC valve stuck open. So far, the valve itself has been cleaned and moves freely, the solenoid has been measured and has good resistance, but oddly the voltage to the solenoid is a bit less than the expected 12 volts. Like 8 volts on ignition and 10 when running.
So the current theory is that maybe there's a loose connection or corrosion somewhere along the power wire to this solenoid, but we're not sure where to check and I was hoping you folk could toss your two cents in.
I'm guessing that it loops around somewhere and goes under the hood fuse box at the connector I've circled as this is what I would guess a "5P junction connector" means according to the wiring diagram.
Because he can get the solenoid to kind of actuate the valve if the filter is blocked, this leads me to believe that the voltage is too weak to move the valve enough that the ECU is happy with the reading, hence P2004. Am I correct in that guess?
