Just a quickie really - I'm not a perfect detailer etc by any means but have noticed some light surface scratches on the front drivers side wing that dont seem to disappear. Cleaned the car earlier and used HD wax at the end so looks all fine, however upon visual inspection, the scratches are still there, even if only faint.

Took a couple of pics but they dont show up so well.

An recommendations on remedying this is much appreciated.

have you looked into machine polishing? Ive recently got myself a das6 pro but havnt got round to trying it out.

My car was lightly keyed a while back. I managed to get it out using meguires scratch x 2.0.

Here's a Link with my results.

Really good stuff, you just have to use it a few times over the scratch. I got the scratches out, and it was all done by hand.

Not yet mate, need to buy one actually. But more than that, its the product I need with the polisher to be honest. Machine polisher on its own its pointless.

Thanks snakey. Will get me some of that Megs stuff tomorrow and give it a going over. As long as its not like that train wreck called T-Cut, I'm happy to try a few different products to get the best results.

Saj,

Get hold of G3 compound. Use with water and this will get rid of most scratches and if you have the need to use a paint touchup pen then this compond helps to blend in the extra paint.

The guys in the paint shop at Cat recomend this when touching up customers equipment.

Worked a treat for me.

Yes James will definitely be procuring both the G3 and Meg's tomorrow.

Black is a great colour but the imperfections on it when clean really do show and its annoying. To be honest, I dont mind spending 100-notes to get it full and professionally detailed at somepoint. Probably after Easter though.

For light swirl removal by hand - http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/polishing/p1-nanocomposite-polish/

Or if you want to hide them (it's a Honda, the paint is soft and swirls will return without fail), a heavy filler glaze http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/prima-amigo-polymer-glaze/prod_696.html

Then wax on top as normal.

Which of the two products listed would you recommend??

Both.

The P1 to remove the swirls and then the Amigo to hide them when they come back. Otherwise you will be constantly polishing your top coat away.

And in between, adopt a good wash technique to try and reduce the swirling as much as possible each time you wash the car.

Cheers.

Will order them both today and will update once I have tried them both out.
