2005 I-CTDI sport
Hey guys.
I own a 2005 I-CTDI Sport but I am having a seriously confusing issue with it..
I was wondering if anyone had any advice or?

My car has 90,000 miles on the clock and as far as I can tell was relatively well looked after previously. I bought the car and fitted new discs and pads all around, a new fuel filter and air filter all Hondas own. They are all definitely installed correctly. I changed the oil as well which I'm sure is the right one and checked and all is topped up. However... I had a problem with the engine management light going on and a loss of power...I took the car to a garage and had the codes read and it had 13!!! Fault codes. I was told that they think that's gotta be wrong so they reset it. And told me that they think its a surging battery causing the issue of multiple problems and to bring back if it happened again. I took it out a day later and the problem reoccurred pretty quick...

To sum up.. The car when I started was fine until I hit the turbo upon which the management light went on and the car now refuses to pass 2000 rpm in any gear. There was no smoke or bangs etc. however after about 10 mins the turbo can suddenly be heard spooling and It works fine. It does this if it hasn't been driven for around 2 hours or more. It's like it needs to warm... Anyway the light is still on and I'm lost as to what to do :( ?

Help would be appreciated guys
Thank you

Hi Jimmy and welcome to TA!

It is hard to know the problem without knowing what error code is being recorded by the ECU... can you get the ECU read off again and tell us what the fresh code is? The 2000RPM limit is imposed by the ECU when an active fault is being reported, this is known a limp home mode.

Welcome along, please say hi in the newbie section.

As Jon, You really need to get the codes read again as the old ones were cleared so any showing now will be relevant to the last time it went into limp mode.

Get them read and let us know.

Yeah I changed the fuel filter already for a honda genuine. It's definitely the right way round as well. But yeah I'll get the fault codes read again asap and let you guys know. Someone said it was limp mode which was a huge relief cos I was not liking the look of buying another turbo if it seized haha. Thanks for the help guys

As the guys said if you can get the new codes read thus will help.
Also did these problems start after the service.

I should hopefully be able to get a check on it tomoz. The problems were there before the service. Just thought it was my ecu and needed resetting so the 13 faults was a surprise :/ lol

Hi, EGR valve again mate..I'm sorry toi said as I had the same problem before

Take the guesswork out of it, have it diagnosed properly. I offer a diagnostic service but not mobile - althogh I'm down south early next week, drop me a line.

At a guess, it's possibly a jammed egr vslve... but guessing is dangerous.

You properly right faddy, as the faulty can't be guessing and should be diagnosed, :) a faulty EGR vavle isn't cheap, so, hope it doesn't has to be replaced. good luck.
