Power seats problem

02 Honda Accord SE
Hi all, bought a 02 Honda Accord SE yesterday, thought I'd have longer until I had to go looking for help, but the power seats have frozen on me in the last hour. They stopped while I was adjusting them, tilting the back up and the front down at the same time. Now they won't budge, unfortunately the seat is stuck in a very uncomfortable position. When I try the switches it makes no noise, and no movement. Google hasn't turned up any results, anybody have any experience of this problem?

Jim have you tried the fuse this is the 1st place to look at.
Also is the passenger one working just incase it's on the same fuse.
If not the fuse the seat motor might be gone.
 
Sorry, should have said, checked fuses, all fine, found one for seat recline and one for seat slide, both fine. Time to check the motor, I was hoping someone might have come across it and had a simple fix! Thanks Brett
 
James have a search in 6th gen section if you already haven't. I'm sure this has come up before from a member
 
have you checked all fuses?
manual says that there is no2 (20A)fuse and no4(20A) in passengers under-dash fuse box for power seats.
and no 55 (30A) fuse under-hood fuse box(this is major fuse for electric seat control, fog lights and headlamp washer motor - check if they are working)

If all of them are OK then get multimeter and check for battery voltage on seat control connector to ensure that it is not faulty wiring problem.

write back your results so we could think of any other steps of solution.
 
Exactly what Linas has said will sort you out mate. I'd imagine it to be the fuse in the fuse box inside the engine bay.
 
If both controls have went at the same time the main fuse under the bonnet has blown

if by some chance all the fuses are ok then grab your self a wee test lamp there cheep and really easy to use :)

clip 1 end to any metal surface in the car for a Ground, i like to use the outside part of the 12v power socket.

then take the end with the bulb in it and look under your drivers seat :D there is a 4pin gray plug. the two black wires on the out side are Grounds the red/yellow and red/white are both power check them with the test light or voltmeter.

if you have power then it could be a fualty ground or both motors packed it at the same time :unsure: unlikely

Hi all, thanks for all the replies. All fuses grand unfortunately, including ones under hood. Got a test lamp today, no power at that grey connection. The seat is frozen in such a position that the back screw for the switches is inaccessible, so can't get that panel off.
Anybody know if there's a way of moving the seat manually, like the sun roof?
Also, was disappointed to learn today that Haynes don't do a manual for this car, anybody know if the US manual they do would apply? Or of a similar kind of manual?
 
Noticed when locking car that it wasn't flashing, hazard fuse was blown. Replaced it, and they worked again until I pressed the power seat button, that blew the fuse again!
 
hmmm... it looks like defective seat motor... Did seat moved in any position when you pressed button or fuse blowed before seat started moving?
 
I can't help anymore with your problem mate, but there is a link on here somewhere to the 6th gen ESM. Nearly as good as the haynes manual. Only you can'ttake it outside unless you load it onto something like an iPad.

Happily resolved today, replaced the hazard fuse again and everything's working again, whether or not hazards are on. Still have no idea why it was blowing. Had downloaded that esm so the next step was dismantling seat. Thanks for all the help!
