Dear All,
I had a leak on my upper power steering hose, just where it passes through the clamp on the back of the rocker cover. I suspect that when I took the engine out last year I might not have treated that hose gently enough, but it might be a common problem? I'm not sure. A garage in Caledonian Rd, London, fixed it for me, they had a fellow in an adjacent unit who makes high pressure hoses. But meanwhile I was looking at the cost of a Honda hose (£284), second hand on eBay (£90), or new from China (£40). The ad for the Chinese hoses said 200+ had been sold.
Does anyone have experience of the same problem? And/Or any comment on the Chinese hose?
Thanks, Tim M

Seen two fail in the same place Tim.

I fitted a cheapie eBay one, and I had to adjust every single bend in it with my blowtorch.

Works alright, but then again I don't do the miles anymore, and it's only done about 6k.

Yes it's common problem...
Does somebody can explain dealer's ridiculous price £284? It's not gold plated or jewelry...
As it's "consumable" for the model, the price should be reasonable. Any high pressure hoses specialist can make similar hose for less then £40-50...

There is a pressure reducing valve in the metal section, replacing the hose with one without the pressure reducer can lead to funny noises and vibration.

Replaced mine with an cheap ebay job. Still going strong after nearly a year. Don't get ripped off by Honda and their extortionate prices.

I have a chinese one for two months now. Can't see any difference yet apart from the fact that the oil is not leaking anymore. The guy that fitted the hose struggled a bit but it is there and working now. Happy customer
