Hi, I come from Thailand,

I own an 2004 honda accord non-nav v6(J30A4) petrol engine.

I want to install oem sat nav on my car. So, i buy sat nav unit (Display screen, navigation unit, amplifier, sub-display) from ebay uk.

The unit come from diesel 2005 accord model.

After i install and re-wire audio-radio are working fine. But when i turn on air condition system it won't engage a/c compressor. It blow fan without cold.

Does it could replace nav display unit from diesel unit with petrol unit?

Are they any different between diesel and petrol climate control system?

Thank you.

there are substantial differences between the aircon system on the diesel and petrol, see this thread

I would guess that is the problem, also cross-check the parts numbers on the Lings Honda website (Lings are a Honda dealer but they have Honda diagrams and part numbers on their website).

Start here, "choose by model" to find the part number for equivalent petrol model that has sat nav, then do it for the diesel, and I bet the part numbers are different

Can i replace Air conditioner control module (part #9) from petrol model on diesel display unit?
Does it will let a/c working? My car is petrol accord.

Thank you in advance.

I don't know myself, but that's a good idea, not sure if anyone else has tried it, but it's worth trying.

Willing to be corrected on this, but the Diesel AC is different from petrol.

Unless the part numbers are the same I wouldn't risk it.

yeah that's what I said in #2 Dan, but ....

he's suggesting (I think) to take the aircon control unit away from the diesel navi/aircon unit that he bought on ebay, and replacing it with an aircon control unit from a 2.4 petrol (presumably buy that new because it's not a lot of money relatively speaking).

the potential problem is either or both of
1. the petrol aircon unit will not work with the diesel navi system. To check this on Lings, I've compared the part numbers on the diesel navi with part numbers on the petrol navi, and unfortunately although the views are 100% identical Lings does not have parts 10,11,15 in the list for the petrol  although parts 8 and 16 are the same part number :) . So it might work ;)
2. the petrol aircon unit for the 2.4 may not be compatible with the aircon in the V6 petrol.

On 2 above, you've got me intrigued tbh. What are the first 12 character from your VIN (note that only the last 5 numbers would identify your car but I can get round that with dummy numbers) because I want to see if Lings brings it up
If Lings does have it, then I can check to see if the aircon in the V6 petrol is same as in the 2.4 petrol.

Sorry about repeating advice - I am multitasking like you wouldn't believe at the moment :( Trying to read everything, but have a lot happening :D

sorry Dan, I didn't mean it that way :D

btw, if the original postee prefers not to put any VIN characters on a forum, send the 12 characters to me by private messsage

No worries dude....

My VIN is JH**********C2

This message will self destruct ;)

Gonna take it down now mate ;)

My VN is : M*******P5

Sorry for my poor in English. :)

Thank every people in advance.

Cool beans... Brian - I'll take this down before I go to bed and PM it to you unless you post back earlier.

Thanks xxx

Will PM it bud.

The Lings website doesn't like it, for one of three reasons.

1. The last 5 digits that I made up might not work, but I've done this before and it usually works ok
2. Lings might not have info on CM6 (which is the V6 car).
3. Lings might only have info on a limited set of markets, your car was made in Thailand.

I've tried different market characters and different final-5 digits but these might require a calculation of a different "check digit" (the ninth character) and that might flag an issue on Lings.

I suppose I should have asked this first, did you try your full VIN yourself on Lings ? Try it here on this link to see if it works. If it doesn't work, then I suspect reason 2 or 3 applies.

Sorted ;)

I've checked diagram for climate system for V6 3.0 and 2.4 engine are same.

I dnt know if this helps in any way but I spoke to Honda recently and was told that they would install sat nav including the cost of a new headunit for £900

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you'll have more issues than just air-con, as the mapping does not cover Asian regions only Europe, how does your sat nav work?

The air-con issue could be down to different ecu's being used by the diesel and petrol accords.

Which version of Accord do you have exactly, is it the same as Australia?

My car is honda accord with J30A4 v6 3.0 petrol engine.
Some people here install sat nav from US model and it work fine both audio and climate control.
So, i hope my car will work fine with Petrol from UK too.
I know that gps navigation map wont covered here, i just want to watch video on my oem screen.

My problem is i've purchased sat nav from diesel. So, i want to solve problem by replace climate control module from petrol on my unit and hope it will work fine.
Thank you.
