Pulsing noise/catching brakes

Great - so now you need to do the passenger side and see if that eliminates the uneven braking and then noise. If the pads have been against the rotor for sometime and are freed, you'll find they are noise for a few miles as they re-bed in again. So the noise could just be the pads re-bedding again.
 
Done the other side. This is what all the caliper pins looked like:

That grime could only be scrubbed off with a wire brush. But they're cleaned and greased now.

The noise remains but out of curiosity I did a short drive avoiding braking as much as possible. Fronts were warm but you could touch them. Rears were radiating heat they were so bad, I noticed the pulsing was travelling up through the handbrake lever too! I need to now check the handbrake isn't sticking :)
 
Another update - Its the rear nearside (passenger side) disc that's getting hot, I've bugged Honda about it and even though they can't see it sticking have put a warranty claim in for a new caliper. I just have to wait for a response.

Hello – Please find attached all the pictures I took of the disc, pads and caliper. This might be more than you need but I would like to point out a few things;

- On the caliper pin/bolt the red grease is what I applied when replacing the pads and discs myself. This is Granville red rubber grease for braking systems.
- I replaced the discs and pads on the rear less than two weeks ago. I also wire brushed and cleaned all corrosion off mating surfaces and then applied copper grease.
- The inside pad has cracked in a corner and has started to crumble there is corrosion transferred from the disc onto the pad.
- The inside surface of the disc has a large amount of corrosion.
- The disc still gets hot even when used over only short drives (under 30mph and under 3 miles)
- By looking at the inside surface of the disc and the state of the relatively new pad – it is showing that the pad itself is not contacting with the vast majority of the disc, save for around 20 mm along the inside edge, there is also clear “scorching” of the corrosion.

Going to get a brake flush soon, but I noticed I got these clips with the rear pads;

I simply put the backing plates on them and forgot about them, but are they supposed to be installed with the brakes as I couldn't figure out where as there are only four of them.
 
If that doesn't work, it would seem to me that there is something with the drive shaft(s). Certainly something to do with a drivetrain. That's if all aspects of the brakes have been exhausted OFC.
 
They're just the wear indicators as I've found out, needed but completely unrelated. I'm starting to think that the warmer discs may be a problem but at the same time a red herring. Everything is seated properly, the brakes clamp and there's no vibration through the pedals at all or any sound of grinding/pulsation when rotating the rear wheels.

I'm getting it up again to check the front driveshafts, but I think spinning them in the air won't reveal much but I can feel the pulsation through the footrest. I even checked the rotation rates vs the pulsation interval, it directly corresponds with the wheel speed so it narrows it down to;

- Still brakes but the front ones instead (ignoring the hot rear disc)
- Dodgy tyres
- Front driveshafts
- Anything else that rotates at wheel speed

If it was truly brakes they would eventually not pulsate as the pad material would wear off, leaving a nice gap and killing the noise, the fact it went away after doing the front brakes suggests that something they did during replacement or MOT temporarily fixed the issue, perhaps simply unloading the wheel for a length of time let the tyre regain its shape. But at the moment i'm clutching at straws and considering throwing in the towel on it.
 
Tyres! (Or alloys????)

For an experiment I put the space saver on the problem wheel, the noise went away! So i've rotated the tyres on that side and its gone, but i can't see anything physically wrong with the tyre - there's some cupping but the other side has some too and doesn't produce the noise.

Oh well I've fixed it for now :D
