Quick Coolant Temperature Query

As i've just picked the car up, i'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Basically the car takes a good while to warm up, and when it does the needle sits just below the middle, in about the 11 o clock position. Is this normal, or should i be replacing the thermostat, maybe more?

Just to contend with the emissions light/no power now, though i think through searching on here its possibly down to the IMRC valve....hopefully! Thats the code it was throwing up anyways, so going to try that first.

It's a stupid design and the dial will be electronic any way so could have been set to any position they desired. I don;t know why normal is not bang in the middle.

Totally agree, only car as I know that does this!!
