Hi folks,

I'm trying to remove the rear calipers from a 7th gen saloon, but the handbrake cable mounting is causing me some headscratching.

There's a U shaped clip which I've removed, but with that out, the whole thing is absolutely solid still - I don't want to use too much brute force at this stage; can anyone here comment on what the next step is?

Vaguely related, any suggestions for brake line clamps that'll work on the accord? I picked up some draper ones, but in true draper style, they're pretty much useless. :)

Cheers,

Miah

On the second question, I wouldn't worry, just take the caliper off (when you find out how!), and you'll lose surprisingly little fluid. Then just bleed the air out and top up after the new one is fitted.

Hi Cliff,

Yeah I noticed it wasn't exactly streaming out when I started taking it off the other day, but wasn't sure if that was just the clamp half working. :)

Hi Miah

Had the same issue with the rear callipers on my Saloon ICTDI. I managed to free them by using a crow bar type tool and really whacking the end of the handbrake cable flange bit - after several whacks it came loose. Soak it in WD40 over night if possible to help loosen it but it should looen up providing it doesn't look to badly rusted up.

My local garage told me not to be afraid to give it a whack.

If worse came to worse then the handbrake cable ***embly would need to be replaced - they are not to badly priced but can be tricky to replace as the car would ideally need to be in the air

Good luck - hope you can get it loose

Hi Alex,

OK, thanks for that - so application of more brute force and ignorance required. Plenty of that available.. :)
Will stick some plus gas on it just now and have a go at it tomorrow.
