just wondering has anyone managed to change there rear brakes, without a piston rewind tool,,just curious, does it have to be done with the rewind tool thanks in advance

Hi Thomas
I have on numerous occasions in the past rewound the piston with a wide chisel and mole grips. Putting the chisel into the cross and gripping the end with the grips, then just turning the piston back. It can be a little difficult though. Since I bought the Accord I invested in a rewind tool, so much easier.

I would advise the investment in a rewind tool, you can pick them up for about £20 on ebay. The front pads, you dont need a rewind tool as the piston can be simply pushed back.

agree with Dave mate get a wind back tool its a lots more expensive if you damage the piston

Get the windback tool, mate...I've tried the other "methods" and they don't work!

thanks for the replys, wind back tool it is then, would it take long to do with the wind back tool

the wind back tool will be the quickest and most effective way off doing the job in the proper manner

It normally takes me about an hour a wheel to do the job on the driveway, although I wouldn't last long in a garage at that speed.
