Hi all, I have a 2004 2.2 ctdi exec. With sat nav . It doesn't work and the upper display also doesn't light up. I was wondering if it was possible to remove the sat av and down grade to the standard stereo. Has anyone done this and knows if it will just plug and play ? Cheers.

Whats the actual issue with your current unit meaning what is faulty?

Hi, my apologies, I'll go and say hello now.

The car was supplied without a disc. So when I purchased the disc it comes up with disc error. It is a version 2.something. But also because the upper display is very faint / works sometimes ,I want to know if I can replace it with the standard stereo unit. The iPhone has a better sat nav so it won't be missed anyway. I don't want to spend money on getting the sat nav fixed, just replaced. Will the heating controls be the same on the standard unit?

What year is your car as there is 2 different models of sat nav 2.x versions and 3.x

Also does the top screen when you turn the lights on and off as its linked to it. You can get the display bits of eBay for a couple of quid

Even if you don't use the sat nav it looks much nicer than the standard CD player in the 'lesser' accords

I don't think it will be as easy as plugging in the non sat nav unit. I suspect you will have to rewire the whole AC system as everything is controlled from there. ***uming nothing works at the moment?

Also if you upgrade the sat nav disc version you can't use a downgraded disc. It upgrades the firmware of the whole system. You could be trying an older version disc?

Hi,, yes I did get the sat av hand book with the car. The car is 2004 . The satnav disc I bought is the very latest 2. something. All the touch screen heater controls work fine. It's just the separate upper display that comes and goes. I took it apart to check for obvious loose solder joints or connections but didn't find any. I have found a bit of info stating that the power supply to the display can be intermittent and that hard wiring an acc. switched live to it should sort it out. It's just the pesky sat nav that's annoying. I know what you mean about the sat screen is better looking than the standard unit but when I can't even adjust the time or see it for that matter never mind knowing what radio station and temp controls are at.
