Replacing Fuseboxe 2004 Diesel

Been having a few problems with the locking / alarm on my Tourer of late, and as it's up for sale now I thought I'd have it checked out.

Seems my engine bay fuse box is damaged and needs to be replaced The garage quoted me £470 + VAT for the box, plus fitting.

I've found a salvaged /garanteed part for a lot less - but the garage isn't too keen to fit second-hand parts, how hard can it be to replace?

Why don't you ask the company/person selling you the secondhand one how difficult it was to remove? I would guess that it isn't too difficult, so long as you get a replacement that comes with any looms that are directly connected to it (you wouldn't want to cut and re-connect looms).

How badly damaged is the old one that it can't be repaired? An autoelectrician would be a better bet than a garage.

Iv replaced hundreds of fuse boxes in houses but nether a car one
As Jon said a good Auto spark will be your best bet as most garages will sub this out and make a profit on this.
