Hi guys, I need to get my Lambda sensor replaced as my engine light is on.

Is this a DIY ? or do i need a mechanic

Are you sure it's definetely the lambda sensor at fault?

If yes, then yes it can be replaced easy enough. It will be tight and might require some heat, but it's just a case of disconnecting the plug then undo it with the longest spanner you can find. You'll need muscle! :D

Is it the downpipe or pre-cat sensor at fault?

its definitely the sensor at the front, as i have an engine light on at the moment ,got it checked over the weekend.

its the precat sensor,

its gonna hurt my wallet but what can you do

Careful with "universal" lambda sensors. Stick with Honda, or as an alternative, use an NGK/NTK, they work as good as the Honda ones ;-)

What code did the scan give you?

I have just ordered a honda one for £220 after searching the forum, as i am going to stick to genuine one as this is a long term ride for me

I am not sure what the code is but over the weekend i was having some work done on my LPG system and the guy had a diagnostic machine and told me why the light was on my dash. Its strange as it was not there prior to the LPG install, but then again The car has been experiencing low idle issues.

I will just have to scale down on the other plans i have at the moment, I had some mods in mind but those have to wait

Humm, I smell something fishy...

That's too much of a coincidence... I also have LPG on my Accord and I have read lots and lots about the topic. If you had no CEL light prior to the LPG install, and after the install it came on, I bet that your kit is not properly tuned and the lambda sensor is ok. It's probably too lean or too rich and the engine is complaining about it...

The rough idle is probably also related the LPG not being properly tuned. Go back to your LPG installer and have him to double check if is properly tuned, while driving the car with the laptop connected to it, instead of tuning it with the car parked in shop...

BTW, did those guys at the LPG shop installed any Flashlube like kit to protect the engine valves? It's a must have in our Hondas...

If that guy refuses to properly tune the car, take it to a known good LPG installer and explain him your problem!

The LPG installer did tune the system properly, He was checking few things over while we were driving up and down.

I had to get the tank replaced over the weekend, as the valve was faulty and the tank was frozen. After a filling the LPG tank up i would get an EML light show up there was a fault with the tank and the valve.

Its not a coincidence that this has come up.

The rough idle was also an issue when i was driving on petrol as well but this was only after running on LPG for a while. Usually the EML comes on then goes off, but it has stayed on for a while.

I will be replacing the sensor over the weekend to see what is going on.

Ahh man i thought everything was going to run smooth but it do

I will have to keep this car for a long time to get my money' worth at this rate

Ok, let's hope the installer is correct and did the job right and that the new Lambda solves your problems.
It's quite easy to replace, but as already stated, it could be quite stucked/rusted...

The installer i have used is a genuine guy who does a lot of work on LPG forums so I have faith in him, but when stuff like these creep up it does not fill me with confidence

The car is a 2001 30K car so it should have premature problems like this, i don't think

I am also having some issues with it switching over from LPG to petrol when it run low

Not sure I like the sound of this...Can you please find out the exact code? I only ask because I'm not sure a lambda sensor is the issue here.

Don't know how things work in the UK, but in Portugal, LPG installers have to be certified by a governmental agency. Even though, there are lots of guys which don't have a clue of what they are doing....

Then, there are occasions, where even the best of the best are unable to fix some LPG related problems. For instance, in my case, I always had some minor problems with the idle speed when running on LPG. When the engine is not at operating temperature, but it's not cold anymore, the idle speed drops too much when I press the clutch while reaching traffic lights, recovering to the proper idle speed immediately. Two of the best LPG specialist in Portugal have already looked at the problem lots of time, and they never got the problem fixed. Now, the problem "almost" solved, but it's still there...

These weird phenomenons also let me thinking...
