Replacing positive battery clamp/terminal

I've discovered mine is loose and won't tighten anymore. It may/may not be the cause of my starting issues but I want to replace it.

I can't seem to find any threads on how to do it or what clamps are best to use. Anyone changed theirs?

Its not rocket science, Use an after market terminal and make sure the cable is cleaned off thoroughly when you put the new terminal on, use some dielectric grease or vaseline in a pinch to prevent corrosion.

The trouble is it looks like the below and there doesn't appear to be any slack in the cable to cut the old clamp off and fit a new one. I don't want to remove it to find I can't fit a new one!

Unclip the plastic surround and you will probably find the original is either crimped on or bolted.
If its crimped then just use a mini hacksaw to cut the old crimp so it can be pried off and replace with a new one.

I've put a piece of copper in there for now so I can at least tighten it up properly. When I've got it through the MOT in the next couple of weeks I'll look into changing it. Thanks.

From my experience - better use an original terminal from the scrapyard instead of aftermarket items.

i had the same problem on my old car, nothing a screw in the gap didnt resolve!
