1.8, 6th gen Accord
Hi guys,

I am thinking on buying a set of reversing sensors from ebay, for my 1.8, year 2000 Accord.

I am a bit apprehensive in drilling the rear bumper to fit the sensors, as I might not like the end result. Can't find any decent picture of a 6th gen Accord with the reverse sensors installed, so I can see how it looks.

Does anyone have reversing sensors on its 6th gen which can post some pictures? Or perhaps, know where to find a picture of a 6th gen Accord with these sensors?

Also, has anyone colour painted themselves the sensors to match the colour of the car? Mine is NH-614M ***an Silver Metallic, which is available as a spray can by MOTIP. Would this paint be ok to paint the sensors, with some decent results?

personally i would buy these in silver and if the colour match is out just spray them. if its a good match happy days.

I did find the the 2nd image, but its quite blurry..., the first is good, although they are not completely colour coded painted.

I was also thinking on buying them in silver :rolleyes:
 
Not too sure where i saw this, but know you can get rear sensors that fit into the numberplate recess, so no drilling required. There are also stick on ones available.

Not too sure about the fitting of these though.
 
There are ones that you stick behind the bumper, completely hidden, but they seem to have some problems.

About the ones to put in the number plate, that would be interesting, but I guess that would not cover all the rear of the car as the standard ones.
 
Apparently the number plate ones did see the whole of the car. I remember because i said the same thing to the chap who had them fitted.

If i can find the link i'll post it up. What are the problems that the ones behind the number plate have?
 
The ones that fit behind the bumper are much more expensive, and lots of users don't like them. Since they are electromagnetic based, they must have lots of interferences...

I will look for those to install in the number plate, if they do work and are not too expensive, I might consider them.
 
Flaming heck! There are some REALLY negative things said on there :lol: So, looks like you might be back to drilling holes in your bumper again :huh:

They really seem to cover almost the same area as the regular 4 sensor setup, even reaching better results more closer to the car. The only problem I see with it, is they don't cover the corners as well as the 4 sensors setup. They are also more expensive.

Then I found this one, but nothing specific about them...

Hi m8 i have been fitting parking sensors for the last four years now and the best ave used is the META systems, its just a much more realible system, you can tell when fitting them that some1 smart has sat down and thought it through. unlike some of the cheap kit off ebay which are said to be "universal" but should actualy say your going to have to do lots off messing about to get these to fit.

i have fitted veba sensors as well and to be honest the the best of a bad bunch lol had about a 80% success rate, the really killer for them was if you painted them, they would constantly pick up a signal :( like it was sensing the paint.

i found a lite spray from a arisol can did the trick :D

What are the main differences between the META systems and the cheap ones from ebay?
Also, what is the problem fitting the cheap ones from ebay? Are they hard to fit in the bumper?

I fitted the Meta ones to the wife's MR2 no problem, had them in place for 3 years work a treat, no holes required fitted on Reg plate.

Also fitted cheap Ebay sensors to my 2002 Accord, they came in black so no spraying required. Just watch where your gonna drill to make sure you're clear at back of bumper, measure everything twice before drilling I fitted the box to the underside of the cut out foam sound proofing in front of the nearside Boot cubbyhole, had to extend the beeper wire to run it through to the front passenger footwell.....good mod, no problem!
